SHEDDING SELF

This flesh, a concubine to your spirit Jealous, selfish, callous, self centred Immoral, unyielding, now discovered My desires don't even fit I say the words and do the things that please me I get a result of failing each time I try Now, Lord hear me I am tired of a body that is not worthy So, make it yours Away from me, take all the grime Along with you, make me rhyme I hate myself without You This body is not mine Not now. Not ever. The mind-wrecking, life-stretching thoughts are all signs That I need you. ✨✨✨ © Dassah'21

🌸The Cross, My Heartbeat🌸

Looking past the bruises and shame each day Help me always, my life, to lay Before this Cross, I'm here to stay My Love, keep me from walking away. My time, my life, my whole, my being This is the sacrifice, Lord, to you I bring That I seek your face to know my win Not of this earth's that I should cling I'm amazed to know the price you paid To transform my wretchedness into riches Still, I will never know what it means which you laid On the Cross, to renew my pieces. ©Dassah'21

A Sinner's Hymn

Image
A Sinner's Hymn By Adeoye Tiwa Purge me with hyssop      and I shall be clean. Wash me,      and I shall be whiter than snow. Many souls are burning, yet one is not This one is not burning, though it is hot. Purge me with hyssop      and I shall be clean. Wash me,      and I shall be whiter than snow. My soul would rather burn for you,I pray For you are what is true,I say. Purge me with hyssop      and I shall be clean. Wash me,      and I shall be whiter than snow. I was shapen in iniquity,in sin did my mother conceive me, But I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Purge me with hyssop      and I shall be clean. Wash me,      and I shall be whiter than snow. For the love you bear me and for hope in you, I know you will hear me and for hope in you Purge me with hyssop      and I shall be clean. Wash me,      and...

Step By Step

Article by:  LOIS OLUYAMO Hello. This is the usual girl-me looking towards that big day. The flowers, the surprise, the cries. I am sure that I am not the only one who dreams of this big day. I am sure you would have heard all those stories about not dwelling on the wedding alone, about planning well for the future.  Yes, I have heard that part. "Be the good girl... the good daughter in law... the good wife." Bla bla bla... We have all heard all those stories and more. I mean, the society has told us what we need to do. I am not even allowed to enjoy the big day. Now, any slight thing they say, "the marriage is more important than the wedding". Of course I know!  "Let me enjoy this relationship first", I tell them. To plan and live for the future is all good. But my little advice is don't forget to live now.  Do what pleases God. God wants you to have a perfect life, a perfect relationship, a perfect marriage, perfect kids but he will never deny you ...

MONDAY QUOTES

Image
First: A lot of Christian lack true happiness, rest and peace today because they keep basing their hope on a dead and crucified Christ instead of a living and resurrected Christ. - Darasimi Olaniran In the bid to share her mind with me, Darasimi explained that there are Christians who live based on other people's testimonies but not on their own first hand encounter with the living God. There is need for us to get our lives in order with God. Being aligned with the purpose of God for our individual lives is one reason we are Christians. According to Darasimi, until you have a personal relationship with God, you can't focus on the life of Christ which relieves you of the bitterness this world throws at you. The man without the life of Christ is only an empty vessel. Two: When one of my team ladies, Alaba Yusuf, wrote this and sent to me, I ruminated on it.  You may be passing through tedious experiences now. The road may be tough and as you go, changes are necessary. That means y...

Foreign: Faith or fear (cont'd)

A living hell  Introducing: the Alexander family of Elizabeth Alexander, Emmanuella, Austin and Pastor Alexander. * "Mum! Austin doesn't listen!" Emma screamed at the top of her voice, clearly exasperated and consequently frustrated by her younger brother's heedlessness towards his school work.  They both sat face to face at the dining table. Their mother who was washing dishes in the kitchen and tired as a result of the demand at her work today, now peeked into the dining area. "Austin?" "Yes Momma." He answered, looking up at her. "Stop giving your sister a tough time and do what she tells you okay?"  "Okay momma." "Yeah, that's my baby." She smiled at him lovingly before returning back to the kitchen sink.  Emma, however looked her brother over with that annoyance that says: I wish I could just slice you to the gods that be so my life would stop being this difficult with you in it.  She couldn't do it thoug...

Health Matters!!!

Image
Today, we'll be looking at one aspect where our health status may seem to suffer. We're Christians - vibrant ladies (as well as we have vibrant men) who love God so much that we put our flesh under subjection through many ways. One of those ways is that we fast - and pray,of course. Well, one of my sisters has some tips to share to help us maintain health while we fast. Let's dig right into today's topic then! ... BY SHOLOLA OLUWAFEYISIKEMI Its another January, almost every Nigerian church has commenced their annual fast-or is at least preparing to start. And almost every Nigerian sister is prepared for the battle against the flesh. My dear sisters, while I totally agree that fasting is absolutely necessary to subdue the flesh and feed the spirit, there’s a slight chance you’re going about it the wrong way. Here are a few tips to keep you healthy and in top shape even while fasting: Ease into the fasting   This tip is particularly useful for those who are new to fastin...

Never Stranded(1)

Written By:  MojoyinolaJesu Yewande. "It was so Amazing! I enjoyed every bit of it. Reaching out to Souls is so fulfilling." Evelyn's excitement was at its peak. "Did you hear those kids? I cried when Debby was recounting what she had faced while living with her aunt."  "Debby? Which one?" Chris asked, trying to remember which of the teenagers Evelyn was referring to. "The girl who said she was introduced to masturbation by her cousins."  "Oh oh, the one who said she would love to be a nurse?" Chris recollected. "Exactly!" "Oh, I felt bad for her too. Many youths have been through a lot due to the background they found themselves." "Yes, indeed." Evelyn sighed. "I really wish we could adopt them. They need GOOD follow up so they don't slip into depression or lose their salvation." Her face crumbled into a worried expression. Chris, on the other hand, perked up jokingly. "Adopt? Women ...

Foreign: Faith or fear

As promised, Foreign is here. A new series on the blog that is centred on the inherent fear in man and the gift of faith that conquers these fears. It's going to be a long and interesting journey. You're welcome on board.🤗 Read. Comment. Subscribe. Share.♥️♥️♥️ Feeble Hands  "Please don't do it."  Her voice was small, and with a hint of something else to it. Fear. Sharon Wilson was tall, freshly brownskinned and with the perfect set of limbs any award winning swimmer could boast of.  But right now, she wasn't swimming through the pool. She wasn't filling her lungs with the oddly satisfying smell of chlorine. She wasn't feeling the confidence and self trust she usually felt at swim meets. Right now, all she felt was timidity. Nothing seemed certain. Hope was slowly slipping away. But it's not like this was the first time this was happening. Or the second? The what then? Definitely not third. Or fourth...   "I can't face it. It's hard....
